The Problem
We sweat up to 400ml per night and our warm bodies create the perfect living environment for dust mites, bacteria, mould and fungus to grow in our mattress.
Microscopic dust mites feed on the dead skin we shed while sleeping. Of all the dust mites in a home, 60% live in mattresses, with the average mattress housing around 2 million dust mites. Even new mattresses have high levels of mites, as experts suggest these levels are reached within 6 months of purchase.
Every dust mite excretes 20-100 faecal pellets a day which we inhale into our bronchia and lungs while in close proximity to the mattress and pillow. This is dirty and unhealthy for everyone, but particularly causes great irritation to those more sensitive to dust.
Symptoms include; Irritated eyes, Headaches, runny nose, itchy skin, sneezing, ear infections (especially in children) coughing, allergies and can also trigger asthma attacks.

The house dust mite is the number one allergen in the home and affects up to 85% of people with asthma.
